Workers who have faced labor rights violations are eligible for protection from deportation and work permits.
As part of the Better for All Campaign, we successfully advocated for executive action to protect immigrant workers who speak out about labor rights abuses in the workplace. The Department of Homeland Security created an affirmative process to provide deferred action and work authorization to immigrant workers who are involved in labor and employment agency investigations.
We have since been working to ensure successful implementation of this wide-reaching new policy by training over 300 attorneys and dozens of unions, worker centers, and community organizations to help their members apply for deferred action to access work permits and deportation relief. In addition, we’ve directly represented immigrant workers applying for deferred action based on labor agency investigations at their worksites.
